Hit Hunger Where It Counts: Right at Home
October is filled with scary things, from ghosts to witches to jack-o’-lanterns. But thousands of families across the country face a far more daunting fear year round — hunger.
Employees at our Aiken, South Carolina office are pitching in to eliminate that fear. Each fall, a team helps organize and support the annual It’s Spooky to be Hungry Food & Funds Drive. The team will be collecting non-perishable, commercially prepared food and accepting monetary donations Oct. 1 through 31 to benefit Golden Harvest Food Bank.
The food drive is close to our employee’s hearts because it has a direct impact on those in their community. The food and money collected supports people in need right here in Aiken and prevents families and children from going hungry. “Veracity employees live, work, and play right here in Aiken,” says Kelly Kanches, Inside Sales Manager with Veracity, who helps organize the company’s participation in the food drive each year. “We feel it is important to support our local community.”
Last year, more than 300 neighborhoods, schools, churches, and businesses participated in the drive, and Golden Harvest Food Bank was able to provide over 261,036 meals for the hungry. Here at Veracity, our employees collected over 300 canned goods and raised more than $200 in donations. We’re excited to find out just how much we can do this year!
We invite you to join Veracity’s Aiken employees in supporting Golden Harvest Food Bank. For more information about how you can contribute, visit It’s Spooky to Be Hungry’s website.
